A Fun Learning Journey

In our Advanced English programme, 5th- and 6th-grade students enjoy learning English in a fun and creative way! Every week, students participate in engaging activities, including speaking games, storytelling, poetry writing, book reviews, and seasonal arts and crafts. For Year 6, we place a special focus on writing stories, crafting thoughtful comments, and reading curated weekly news articles tailored to their level and interests. This approach helps them develop both their language skills and critical thinking abilities.

Our learning journey also includes exploring English-speaking cultures through celebrations like Thanksgiving, St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween, and Easter. Additionally, we engage with important global topics such as International Women’s Day, Book Month, or Safer Internet Month, encouraging students to become more aware of the world around them.

We believe that learning a language is about more than just words - it’s about understanding diverse cultures, perspectives, and traditions. Our goal is to help students become well-rounded, open-minded global citizens who can navigate the world with confidence and knowledge.

BLU - eine echte Herausforderung!

“I think it is good that the school offers history classes in English because you can improve your English and I certainly want to continue next year.”
So lautete das Fazit eines Schülers nach einem Jahr „BLU“.
Der bilinguale Unterricht – kurz BLU genannt – gehört inzwischen bereits fest zum Portfolio unserer Schule. Mit der Möglichkeit, in mehreren Fächern zweisprachigen Unterricht zu besuchen, wurde ein wichtiger Baustein des Konzepts verwirklicht, unsere Schülerinnen und Schüler möglichst individuell zu fördern.

Ab der 8. Jahrgangsstufe können interessierte Schüler deutsch-englischen Geschichtsunterricht wählen, der bis zur 10. Klasse angeboten wird. In dieser Jahrgangsstufe ist es bei entsprechender Nachfrage ebenfalls möglich, bilingualen Unterricht in Biologie oder Geographie zu besuchen. Im nächsten Schuljahr wird das Angebot auf weitere Fächer ausgedehnt. Voraussetzung zur Teilnahme ist neben guten Englischkenntnissen ein besonderes Interesse für das jeweilige Unterrichtsfach.

Unsere Schüler nutzen das Angebot gerne, und das nicht nur, wenn sie mit dem Gedanken spielen, in der Oberstufe das IB-Programm zu absolvieren. Die Herausforderung, sich an eine anspruchsvolle Aufgabe heranzuwagen, ist für viele Ansporn, sich für BLU zu entscheiden.
